וַֽיהֹוָ֗ה הִמְטִ֧יר עַל־סְדֹ֛ם וְעַל־עֲמֹרָ֖ה גׇּפְרִ֣ית וָאֵ֑שׁ מֵאֵ֥ת יְהֹוָ֖ה מִן־הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃

And Hashem rained upon Sedom and upon Amorah sulfur and fire from Hashem out of heaven.

מֵאֵת ה׳. מֵאִתּוֹ מִבָּעֵי לֵיהּ? אֶלָּא מִשְׁתָּעֵי קְרָא הָכִי; וְדִכְוָתַהּ וַיֹּאמֶר לֶמֶךְ לְנָשָׁיו עָדָה וְצִלָּה שְׁמַעַן קוֹלִי נְשֵׁי לֶמֶךְ – נָשַׁי מִבָּעֵי לֵיהּ? אֶלָּא מִשְׁתָּעֵי קְרָא הָכִי.

“From Hashem.” It should have said “from Him.” Rather, Scripture speaks in this manner. Similarly, “And Lemech said to his wives, ‘Adah and Tzillah, hear my voice, wives of Lemech’”—it should have said “my wives,” yet Scripture speaks in this manner.
