וַיֵּרָ֤א אֵלָיו֙ יְהֹוָ֔ה בְּאֵלֹנֵ֖י מַמְרֵ֑א וְה֛וּא יֹשֵׁ֥ב פֶּֽתַח־הָאֹ֖הֶל כְּחֹ֥ם הַיּֽוֹם׃

Hashem appeared to him by the terebinths of Mamre; he was sitting at the entrance of the tent as the day grew hot.

כְּחֹם הַיּוֹם. מַאי כְּחֹם הַיּוֹם? אָמַר רַבִּי חָמָא בַּר רַבִּי חֲנִינָא, אוֹתוֹ הַיּוֹם שְׁלִישִׁי לְמִילָתוֹ הָיָה, הוֹצִיא הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא חַמָּה מִנַּרְתִּיקָהּ כְּדֵי שֶׁלֹּא יַטְרִיחַ אוֹתוֹ צַדִּיק בְּאוֹרְחִים.

English: “As the day grew hot.” What is the meaning of “as the day grew hot”? Rabbi Chama son of Rabbi Chanina said: That day was the third day after his circumcision; the Holy One, blessed be He, took the sun out of its sheath so that the righteous man would not be troubled by guests.

On the daf / in context: The unusual heat is explained as a divine measure to keep travelers away while Avraham recovered; when he still longed for guests, Hashem sent the three angels.
