Then his yevamah shall approach him in the presence of the elders, and draw his shoe off his foot, and spit in his face, and respond and say: “Thus shall be done to the man who will not build up his brother’s house.”

TT lemma: וְעָנְתָה וְאָמְרָה.
נֶאֱמַר כָּאן וְעָנְתָה וְאָמְרָה וְנֶאֱמַר לְהַלָּן וְעָנוּ הַלְוִיִּם וְאָמְרוּ – מַה לְּהַלָּן בִּלְשׁוֹן הַקֹּדֶשׁ אַף כָּאן בִּלְשׁוֹן הַקֹּדֶשׁ.
English: It is said here “and she shall respond and say” and it is said there “and the Levites shall respond and say” — just as there it is in the holy tongue, so here it is in the holy tongue.
