Then the elders of his city shall call him and speak to him, and he shall stand and say: “I do not desire to take her.”

TT lemma: וְעָמַד.
וְעָמַד – לָאו דַּוְקָא, אֶלָּא בֵּין יוֹשֵׁב בֵּין עוֹמֵד בֵּין מֻטֶּה; מַאי טַעְמָא? מִדְּלֹא כְּתִיב וַיַּעֲמֹד.
English: “And he shall stand” — not necessarily; rather whether sitting, standing, or reclining. Why? Because it is not written “and he shall stand” (in the imperative).
On the daf / in context: The posture of the yavam during his declaration is not strictly prescribed.
Derash relaxing the postural requirement for the yavam.
