כִּֽי־יִהְיֶ֥ה רִיב֙ בֵּ֣ין אֲנָשִׁ֔ים וְנִגְּשׁ֥וּ אֶל־הַמִּשְׁפָּ֖ט וּשְׁפָט֑וּם וְהִצְדִּ֙יקוּ֙ אֶת־הַצַּדִּ֔יק וְהִרְשִׁ֖יעוּ אֶת־הָרָשָֽׁע׃

When there is a dispute between men and they come to judgment, and they judge them, and they declare the righteous one righteous and the wicked one wicked,

וּשְׁפָטוּם – יָכוֹל בְּהֶדְיוֹטוֹת? תַּלְמוּד לוֹמַר אֶל הַמִּשְׁפָּט.

English: ‘And they judge them’ – might this mean ordinary people? Scripture says ‘to the judgment.’
