וְאָמַ֛ר אֲבִ֥י הַֽנַּעֲרָ֖ה אֶל־הַזְּקֵנִ֑ים אֶת־בִּתִּ֗י נָתַ֤תִּי לָאִישׁ֙ הַזֶּ֔ה לְאִשָּׁ֖ה וַיִּשְׂנָאֶֽהָ׃
And the father of the young woman shall say to the elders: “I gave my daughter to this man as a wife, and he hated her.”

אֶת בִּתִּי נָתַתִּי לָאִישׁ הַזֶּה – מִכָּאן שֶׁהָאָב זוֹכֶה בְּבִתּוֹ לְקִדּוּשִׁין.
English: “I gave my daughter to this man” — from here [we learn] that a father has the right to betroth his daughter.
