לֹא־תִזְרַ֥ע כַּרְמְךָ֖ כִּלְאָ֑יִם פֶּן־תִּקְדַּ֗שׁ הַֽמְלֵאָ֤ה הַזֶּ֙רַע֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר תִּזְרָ֔ע וּתְבוּאַ֖ת הַכָּֽרֶם׃

You shall not sow your vineyard with mixed seeds, lest the fullness of the seed that you sow and the produce of the vineyard become forbidden.

Torah Temimah points to Sifrei Devarim 230.

Core Text

פֶּן תִּקְדַּשׁ – פֶּן תֵּאָסֵר, מְלַמֵּד שֶׁכִּלְאֵי הַכֶּרֶם אֲסוּרִים בַּהֲנָאָה.

English: “Lest it become kadosh” — lest it become forbidden. This teaches that kilayim of the vineyard are prohibited for benefit.

On the daf / in context: The term “tikdash” is understood as a prohibition of benefit (issur hana’ah), not merely of eating.

Derash on the language of “pen tikdash” establishing issur hana’ah.

Produce grown as kilayim in a vineyard is forbidden not only to eat but also to derive any benefit from.
