Core Text of Chazal

Core Text

English: “Lest it become kadosh” — lest it be burned in fire. From here [we learn] that kilayim of the vineyard require burning.

On the daf / in context: One midrashic reading of “tikdash” links the word to burning, establishing the required method of disposal.

Type of Learning

Derash on “tikdash” as “tukad” (be burned).

What Is Learned

Produce of vineyard kilayim must be destroyed by burning.
