וְכִֽי־יִהְיֶ֣ה בְאִ֗ישׁ חֵ֛טְא מִשְׁפַּט־מָ֖וֶת וְהוּמָ֑ת וְתָלִ֥יתָ אֹת֖וֹ עַל־עֵֽץ׃
And if a man has committed a sin worthy of death, and he is put to death, and you hang him on a tree,

חֵטְא מִשְׁפַּט מָוֶת – מִיתָה שֶׁיֵּשׁ בָּהּ מִשְׁפָּט, יָצָא הָרוֹרֵג נֶפֶשׁ בְּלֹא עֵדִים.
English: “A sin of a judgment of death” — a death that has a judicial process; this excludes one who kills without witnesses.
