A single witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity or for any sin, in any sin that he may commit; by the mouth of two witnesses or by the mouth of three witnesses a matter shall be established.
Torah Temimah points to Sanhedrin 31a.
TT lemma: יָקוּם דָּבָר.
English: ‘A matter shall be established’ – and not that half a matter shall be established.
Derash requiring complete testimony (Bavli) — each pair must establish a whole matter.
Testimony must establish a complete matter; the court does not piece together half-testimonies from different pairs into a single whole.
