The Complete Passuk

וְנַחֲלָ֥ה לֹא־יִֽהְיֶה־לּ֖וֹ בְּקֶ֣רֶב אֶחָ֑יו יְהֹוָה֙ ה֣וּא נַחֲלָת֔וֹ כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר דִּבֶּר־לֽוֹ׃

And he shall have no inheritance among his brethren; the Eternal is his inheritance, as He spoke to him.

Core Text

וְנַחֲלָה לֹא יִהְיֶה לּוֹ בְּקֶרֶב אֶחָיו – לֹא בָּאָרֶץ וְלֹא בַּבִּזָּה.

English: ‘And he shall have no inheritance among his brethren’ – neither in the land nor in the spoil.

On the daf / in context: The exclusion covers both landed inheritance and a share in the spoils of war.

Derash extending the exclusion (Sifrei / Rambam) — Levi is barred from both categories of material portion.

The tribe of Levi is forbidden to take a portion of the Land or a share of the spoils; their entire portion is from the table of Heaven.
