English: ‘And he shall have no inheritance’ – this refers to the inheritance of the remainder. ‘Among his brethren’ – this refers to the inheritance of the five.
Derash partitioning the land inheritance (Sifrei) — the verse is read as excluding Levi from both the earlier and the later divisions of the Land.
Levi has no share in any of the territorial inheritances of the other tribes, whether the portions assigned early or those assigned later.
