It shall not seem hard to you when you send him free from you, for he has served you six years—double the service of a hired worker—and Hashem your God will bless you in all that you do.
English: "The service of a hired worker" — the Merciful One calls him a hired worker; just as a hired worker’s wages go to his heirs, so this one’s grant goes to his heirs. This teaches that if the slave dies, the grant is given to his heirs.
