וְאֵ֥ת כָּל־עֹרֵ֖ב לְמִינֽוֹ׃

And every raven after its kind.

Core Text

וְאֵת כָּל עֹרֵב לְמִינוֹ — לְרַבּוֹת אֶת הָעָרָב לְכָל מִינָיו.

English: “And every raven after its kind” — this comes to include the raven in all its varieties.

On the daf / in context: The phrase “le-mino” expands the prohibition beyond a single named bird to the entire family of ravens.

Derash on “le-mino” (Chullin) — the genus, not only the single species, is forbidden.

All varieties of the raven are unclean; the Torah’s “of its kind” language brings the whole family under the prohibition.
