בָּנִ֣ים אַתֶּ֔ם לַיהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֑ם לֹ֣א תִתְגֹּדְד֗וּ וְלֹֽא־תָשִׂ֧ימוּ קׇרְחָ֛ה בֵּ֥ין עֵינֵיכֶ֖ם לָמֵֽת׃

You are children to Hashem your God; you shall not cut yourselves and you shall not make a baldness between your eyes for the dead.

לֹא תִתְגֹּדְדוּ – תַּנְיָא, לֹא תִתְגֹּדְדוּ – לֹא תַּעֲשׂוּ אֲגֻדּוֹת אֲגֻדּוֹת, כְּגוֹן בֵּית דִּין אֶחָד בְּעִיר אַחַת, פַּלְגָא מוֹרִים כְּדִבְרֵי בֵּית שַׁמַּאי וּפַלְגָא כְּדִבְרֵי בֵּית הִלֵּל.

English: “You shall not cut yourselves” — It was taught: “Lo tisgodedu” — do not form separate groups, for example one court in one city of which half rule according to Beis Shammai and half according to Beis Hillel.
