However, in all the desire of your soul you may slaughter and eat meat according to the blessing of Hashem your God that He has given you in all your gates; the unclean and the clean may eat it, as of the gazelle and as of the deer.
Torah Temimah points to Sifrei / Temurah.
English: “As of the gazelle and as of the deer” — R’ Hoshaya said: One who mates a bull of disqualified consecrated animals incurs two sets of lashes; and R’ Yitzchak said: One who drives a bull of disqualified consecrated animals incurs lashes. What is the reason? Because it is one body, yet Scripture treated it as two bodies, as it is said “as of the gazelle and as of the deer.”
Derash on the verse (Sifrei / Bavli) — dual liability arising from the comparison to two species.
A redeemed disqualified consecrated animal is treated as possessing a dual status (like both gazelle and deer), generating additional liability for certain prohibited acts.
