English: Rav Yehudah said in the name of Rav: A person is forbidden to eat before he gives food to his animal, as it is said, “I will give grass in your field for your cattle,” and only afterward, “you shall eat.”

The Gemara uses this passuk in a sugya (proof, illustration, or dispute). Named as one of R' Yishmael’s 13 or R' Eliezer’s 32 only when that move is explicit.
The verse’s order — grass for the animal before “you shall eat” — trains compassion into daily routine: the animal’s need is not an afterthought.
