The Complete Passuk

And now, O Israel, what does the ETERNAL your God demand of you? Only this: to revere the ETERNAL your God, to walk only in divine paths, to love and to serve the ETERNAL your God with all your heart and soul,

Core Text

English: “Is fear of Heaven a small thing?” Yes — for Moshe it is a small thing, as R’ Chanina said: It is like a person asked for a large vessel who has one; it seems to him like a small vessel, while if he lacks even a small vessel, it seems to him like a large vessel.

On the daf / in context: Berachos 33b; Yerushalmi Shabbos 1:3.

Type of Learning

Custom (fear is “small” for Moshe)

What Is Learned

Moshe presents yirah as modest because of his humility, not because he undervalues it for ordinary people.
