Thereupon I gripped the two tablets and flung them away with both my hands, smashing them before your eyes.

English: R’ Yochanan said: The Holy One rests His Presence only upon one who is strong, wealthy, wise, and humble — and all of these qualities are found in Moshe. Strong — as it is written, “I seized the two tablets and threw them from my two hands and smashed them.” It was taught: The tablets were six cubits long, six wide, and three thick.

Moshe embodies the four qualities on which the Shechinah rests; smashing the tablets demonstrates his physical strength.
