ובמדבר אשר ראית. מוסב על מקרא שלמעלה הימנו – ככל אשר עשה אתכם במצרים, ועשה אף במדבר אשר ראית אשר נשאך וגו'.

כאשר ישא איש את בנו. כמו שפרשתי אצל וַיִּסַּע מַלְאַךְ הָאֱלֹהִים הַהֹלֵךְ לִפְנֵי מַחֲנֵה יִשְׂרָאֵל וגו', משל למהלך בדרך ובנו לפניו, באו לסטים לשבותו, וכו'.

English: Rashi connects God's care in the wilderness to the miracles of Egypt and compares it to a parent protecting a child on a dangerous journey, moving the child behind him when bandits approach.
