וַיִּקְצֹף מֹשֶׁה. אָמַר לָהֶם, שֶׁמָּא חֲזַרְתֶּם לְקִלְקוּלְכֶם הָרִאשׁוֹן? אָמְרוּ לוֹ, לֹא נִפְקַד מִמֶּנּוּ אִישׁ. אָמַר לָהֶם, אִם כֵּן כַּפָּרָה לָמָּה? אָמְרוּ לוֹ, אִם מִידֵי עֲבֵרָה יָצָאנוּ, מִידֵי הִרְהוּר לֹא יָצָאנוּ. (שַׁבָּת ס״ד א׳)
