וַיֹּאמֶר ה׳ אֶל־מֹשֶׁה קַח־לְךָ אֶת־יְהוֹשֻׁעַ בִּן־נוּן אִישׁ אֲשֶׁר־רוּחַ בּוֹ וְסָמַכְתָּ אֶת־יָדְךָ עָלָיו׃

And Hashem said to Moshe: Take for yourself Yehoshua son of Nun, a man in whom there is spirit, and lay your hand upon him.

אָמַר לֵיהּ רָבָא לְרַבָּה בַּר מָרִי, מִנַּהַנֵי מִלֵּי דַּאֲמְרִי אִינָשֵׁי חַמְרָא לְמָרֵיהּ וְטֵיבוּתָא לְשָׁקְיֵהּ, אָמַר לֵיהּ דִּכְתִיב וְסָמַכְתָּ אֶת יָדְךָ עָלָיו, וּכְתִיב וִיהוֹשֻׁעַ בִּן נוּן מָלֵא רוּחַ חָכְמָה כִּי סָמַךְ מֹשֶׁה אֶת יָדָיו עָלָיו.

English: Rava said to Rabbah bar Mari: from where is the saying “wine to its owner and credit to the pourer”? He said to him: as it is written “and you shall lay your hand upon him,” and it is written “and Yehoshua son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moshe had laid his hands upon him.”
