Core Text

Core Text
English of Core Text: “Do not fear him” — Such is the way of the righteous: even though the Holy One assures them, they do not cast off fear.
On the daf / in context: Moshe feared Og because of the giant’s age and possible merit; Hashem reassured him that the people had acted with justice in the prior war and that Og was given into his hand. The final verse records the complete destruction and inheritance.
Type of Learning: Yirah of the righteous / divine reassurance
What Is Learned: The righteous retain fear even after divine assurance; the victory over Og completes the Transjordan conquest begun with Sihon.
