Core Text

English: Does a serpent kill or a serpent heal? Rather, when Yisrael look upward and subject their hearts to their Father in Heaven they are healed; if not, they waste away.

Type of Learning

The copper serpent as a pointer to Heaven, not a power itself.

What Is Learned

Healing depended on directing the heart above, not on the metal image.
