The Complete Passuk

Why did you bring us up from Egypt to bring us to this evil place? It is not a place of seed or fig or vine or pomegranate, and there is no water to drink.

English: From here: one does not cover the blood of slaughter with desert dust; even though it grows grass, one still does not sow in it, as it is said “not a place of seed or fig.”

Type of Learning

Halakhic implication from “not a place of seed.”

What Is Learned

Desert soil that is not sown is invalid for kisuy hadam despite surface vegetation.
