Source Citation

Torah Temimah citing Berachos (pointer only — not TT’s gloss). The tension between “in a dream I speak with him” and “dreams speak vanity.”

Core Text of Chazal

Core Text

English: Rava raised a contradiction: it is written “in a dream I speak with him,” and it is written “dreams speak vanity.” There is no difficulty: here through an angel, here through a shed.

Type of Learning

Two channels of dream — divine message versus empty vision.

What Is Learned

Ordinary prophecy may come in a dream; Moshe’s mode is set apart in the next verses.
