Core Text

English: It was taught: “Take for yourself” — from your own; and “make for yourself” — from your own; “and they shall take to you” — from the public — the words of Rabbi Yoshiyah. Rabbi Yonasan says: whether “take for yourself” or “and they shall take to you” — from the public; and why does it say “take for yourself”? As if to say, from yours I desire more than from theirs.

Type of Learning

Ownership of the chatzotzros — the doubled language marks Moshe’s special relationship to the instruments.
