And if it is among the unclean animals, he may redeem it according to your valuation and add its fifth to it; and if it is not redeemed, it shall be sold according to your valuation.

Rashi — not the firstborn of an unclean species (petter chamor is redeemed only with a lamb for the kohen); rather, one who consecrates an unclean animal for bedek habayit.

Chazal

English: “And if among the unclean animals” — the verse does not refer back to the firstborn; one cannot say of an unclean firstborn “he shall redeem it by valuation.” Rather, it speaks of one who consecrates an unclean animal for the maintenance of the Temple.

Type of Learning

Lexical clarification — bedek habayit vs. bechor.

What Is Learned

The same words “unclean animal” point to different tracks: firstborn donkey has its own law; ordinary consecration of an unfit animal goes through valuation, fifth, and possible sale for Temple upkeep.
