Source Citation

Rashi / Arachin — purchased field reverts at Jubilee to the original hereditary owner, not to the one who consecrated it; consecration cannot override the Yovel return.

Sefaria

Chazal

English: “A field of his purchase that is not of the field of his possession” — a bought field returns at the Jubilee to the original hereditary owners; the one who consecrated it cannot uproot the law of Yovel.

What Is Learned

Consecration is powerful, but not absolute. The Jubilee’s restoration of ancestral holdings outranks a vow made over purchased land.
