I will remember for them the covenant of the first ones, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, to be their God; I am Hashem.

Sefaria

Chazal

English: “I will remember for them the covenant of the first ones” — the covenant of the patriarchs and the Exodus stands before Me in every generation; even when they are in the land of their enemies, the covenant is not forgotten.

Type of Learning

Historical / covenantal derasha — memory that outlasts exile.

What Is Learned

Consolation is not abstract. The covenant of the Exodus is invoked as an enduring claim: the same God who took them out before the nations remains their God in every later crisis.
