Source Citation

Sifra, Bechukotai (on reciprocal keri) — measure-for-measure: their occasional treatment of the mitzvot is answered by occasional (and severe) divine response.

Sefaria

Chazal

English: “I too will walk with you keri” — just as they treated My judgments as occasional, so I will treat them as occasional in the world; measure for measure.

Type of Learning

Middah keneged middah — reciprocal keri.

What Is Learned

Divine “keri” is not arbitrary withdrawal. It mirrors the human pattern: when the covenant is treated as optional, the protective presence is experienced as intermittent.
