E-Daf Bava Basra 75a

Core Text of Chazal

Core Text

English: “Upright” — Rabbi Meir says, two hundred cubits, like two of the heights of Adam the first. Rabbi Yehudah says, one hundred cubits, corresponding to the Heichal and its walls.

Type of Learning

Anthropometric / Temple-measure derasha.

What Is Learned

The final word of the blessing section evokes restored stature — either the doubled height of primordial Adam or the full height of the Temple structure.
