וְאִ֗ישׁ כִּֽי־יִמְכֹּ֤ר בֵּית־מוֹשַׁב֙ עִ֣יר חוֹמָ֔ה וְהָיְתָה֙ גְּאֻלָּת֔וֹ עַד־תֹּ֖ם שְׁנַ֣ת מִמְכָּר֑וֹ יָמִ֖ים תִּהְיֶ֥ה גְאֻלָּתֽוֹ׃

בֵּית מוֹשַׁב עִיר חוֹמָה. מְלַמֵּד שֶׁאֵין הַדִּין הַזֶּה נוֹהֵג אֶלָּא בְּבָתֵּי עָרֵי חוֹמָה.

English: “A dwelling-house in a walled city.” This teaches that this law applies only to houses of walled cities.

The special one-year redemption window applies only to houses inside cities that were walled from the time of Yehoshua.
