וְכִ֣י תֹאמְר֔וּ מַה־נֹּאכַ֖ל בַּשָּׁנָ֣ה הַשְּׁבִיעִ֑ת הֵ֚ן לֹ֣א נִזְרָ֔ע וְלֹ֥א נֶאֱסֹ֖ף אֶת־תְּבוּאָתֵֽנוּ׃

Core Text — Sifra

הֵן לֹא נִזְרָע וְלֹא נֶאֱסֹף. מְלַמֵּד שֶׁאֵין זוֹרְעִין וְאֵין אוֹסְפִין בַּשְּׁבִיעִית.

English: “Behold, we shall not sow and we shall not gather.” This teaches that one neither sows nor gathers in the seventh year.

The verse confirms the dual prohibition: neither planting nor gathering the produce of the Shemittah year in the ordinary manner.
