וּשְׁמַרְתֶּ֤ם אֶת־חֻקֹּתַי֙ וְאֶת־מִשְׁפָּטַ֔י אֲשֶׁ֨ר יַעֲשֶׂ֥ה אֹתָ֛ם הָאָדָ֖ם וָחַ֣י בָּהֶ֑ם אֲנִ֖י יְהֹוָֽה׃

א"ר לוי: ושמרתם את חקתי ואת משפטי אשר יעשה אותם האדם וחי בהם — ואין מאור עיניו של אדם חוזר אלא לאחר ארבעים יום.

English: R. Levi: “and live by them” — a person’s eyesight does not return (after certain afflictions) until after forty days.
