EXTRA 1 on Acharei Mos 16:11

Side-ring EXTRA · Second confession for Kohanim

Source

Torah Temimah is silent on 16:11. Rashi (from Toras Kohanim / Shevuos) identifies a second vidui at this verse — for the Kohen Gadol and for all the Kohanim, who are called “his house.”

Core Text

Core Text — Rashi on 16:11 / Toras Kohanim

English: “And he shall atone for himself and for his house” — a second confession, for himself and for his brother Kohanim, all of whom are called “his house,” as it is said “House of Aharon, bless Hashem.”

Type of Learning

Second vidui / scope of “beiso”

What Is Learned

The first vidui (16:06) covers the Kohen Gadol and his immediate household; the second (16:11) expands the circle to every Kohen. Only after both confessions does he slaughter the bull.
