וְזֹ֛את תִּהְיֶ֥ה טֻמְאָת֖וֹ בְּזוֹב֑וֹ רָ֣ר בְּשָׂר֞וֹ אֶת־זוֹב֗וֹ אֽוֹ־הֶחְתִּ֤ים בְּשָׂרוֹ֙ מִזּוֹב֔וֹ טֻמְאָת֖וֹ הִֽוא׃

Core Text

טֻמְאָתוֹ בְּזוֹבוֹ — תָּלָה הַכָּתוּב אֶת הַזָּב בִּרְאִיּוֹת וְאֶת הַזָּבָה בַּיָּמִים.

English: “His impurity is in his discharge” — Scripture made the zav dependent on sightings and the zavah dependent on days.

Different criteria for male and female

Chazal contrast the counting system of the zav (by discrete emissions) with that of the zavah (by days).
