Core Text

English: “And the kohen shall come” — it was taught: “And the kohen shall return” and “and the kohen shall come” — this return is [the same as] this coming. Just as the return is at the end of a week, so the coming is at the end of a week; and just as the return involves removing, cutting, plastering and giving him a week, so the coming involves removing, cutting, plastering and giving him a week.

What Is Learned

Chazal equate the second and third inspections so that each follows a full week and each may trigger the same sequence of removal and replastering.
