וְלָקְחוּ֙ אֲבָנִ֣ים אֲחֵר֔וֹת וְהֵבִ֖יאוּ אֶל־תַּ֣חַת הָאֲבָנִ֑ים וְעָפָ֥ר אַחֵ֛ר יִקַּ֖ח וְטָ֥ח אֶת־הַבָּֽיִת׃

Torah Temima points to Toras Kohanim.

Core Text

וְטָח — מְלַמֵּד שֶׁאֵין חֲבֵרוֹ מִטַּפֵּל עִמּוֹ בַּטִּיחָה.

English: “And he shall plaster” — this teaches that his fellow does not assist him in the plastering.

Owner alone plasters

Chazal require the owner himself to perform the replastering; a neighbor does not share that particular task.
