English: “And he shall purify him” — with the acts performed on his body. One might think he is finished at this point; therefore the verse continues “and he shall send … and shave … and wash … and bathe.”
Scope of “ve-tiharo”
Chazal teach that the word “ve-tiharo” refers only to the immediate bodily acts and does not exempt the later requirements of sending the bird, shaving, and immersion.
