TT #43 · Parshas Tazria · Aliyah 1 · Passuk 6
English: On the completion of her period of purification, for either son or daughter, she shall bring to the priest, at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, a lamb in its first year for a burnt offering, and a pigeon or a turtledove for a purgation offering.
Chabad.org — Chumash, English translation + Rashi for Vayikra 12:6
Torah Temimah cites Nazir 64b; this clause introduces a possible inference about two childbirth offerings that the baraita then rejects.
English: This is the baraita’s rejected possibility, not its final ruling: one might think a later birth, occurring after the first purification period but within the period following a subsequent birth, would allow one offering to discharge both obligations. The next unit brings the verse that limits that inference.
Rejected inference
The baraita raises but rejects the possibility that one offering could discharge both obligations when births fall on opposite sides of the purification-period boundary; the following unit supplies the verse that limits the inference.
