Derasha 15 — Vayikra 12:3

Core Text — Shabbos 135a

כָּל שֶׁאִמּוֹ טְמֵאָה לֵידָה נִימּוֹל לִשְׁמוֹנָה, וְכֹל שֶׁאֵין אִמּוֹ טְמֵאָה לֵידָה אֵין נִימּוֹל לִשְׁמֹנָה, שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר: ״וְטָמְאָה שִׁבְעַת יָמִים וּבַיּוֹם הַשְּׁמִינִי יִמּוֹל״.

English: A child whose mother has the impurity of childbirth is circumcised on the eighth day; one whose mother does not have that impurity is not circumcised on the eighth day, as it says, “she shall be impure seven days, and on the eighth day he shall be circumcised.”
