The Complete Passuk

וְכִי יָמוּת מִן־הַבְּהֵמָה אֲשֶׁר־הִיא לָכֶם לְאָכְלָה הַנֹּגֵעַ בְּנִבְלָתָהּ יִטְמָא עַד־הָעָרֶב:

English: “Yours for food”: this includes an eight-month premature animal, whose slaughter does not render it pure.

לָכֶם לְאָכְלָה. לְהָבִיא בֶּן שְׁמוֹנָה שֶׁאֵין שְׁחִיטָתוֹ מְטַהַרְתּוֹ.

An eight-month premature animal is included because slaughter does not purify it.
