ויפסל. מנהג הלשון לדבר ככה לאמר ויקח בידו שני לוחות אבנים, ולא אמר ויקח בידו שני הלוחות , כמו וד' המטיר על סדום ועל עמורה גפרית ואש מאת ד' (ברא', יט כד) ולא אמר מאתו, וככה בפסוק אחד בני ישראל חמש פעמים והנה הוא דרך צחות:

English: AND HE HEWED TWO TABLES OF STONE…AND TOOK IN HIS HAND TWO TABLES OF STONE. It is Hebrew style to speak thus and say, and took in his hand two tables of stone . 15 Even though Scripture has already told us in the first part of the verse that the tablets were of stone. The verse does not say, and took in his hand the two tables. 16 Mentioned in the first part of the verse. Our verse is similar to Then the Lord caused to rain upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord (Gen. 19:24). 17 The second Lord appears to be redundant.
