Sefaria — Ibn Ezra on Ki Sisa 32:30

Core Text — Ibn Ezra on Ki Sisa 32:30

English: AND IT CAME TO PASS ON THE MORROW. Following his descent. 144 In other words, mi-mochorat is short for mi-mochorat yom rideto . AND NOW I WILL GO UP. To return to the mountain to fall before the Lord and atone for Israel as I have explained. 145 See I.E.’s comments on verse 11. Perhaps God will write another pair of tablets in order to make a covenant with Israel. This is the meaning of Behold, I make a covenant (Ex. 34:10). 146 The second tablets served as evidence of God’s covenant with Israel. For the tablets were, as it were, a document of witness.
