English: AND THE PLAITED GARMENTS. The bigde ha-serad (the plaited garments) were garments used to cover the ark, the table, the altar, [and] the menorah when journeying. 30 In other words, the bigde ha-serad are not to be identified with the holy garments. See Rashi, “I say, according to the plain meaning of the text it is impossible to maintain that Scripture speaks of the priestly garments.” Scripture goes on to explain, And of the blue, and purple, and scarlet, they made plaited garments (bigde serad) (Ex. 39:1).
