Core Text of Chazal

Core Text — Menachos 61a

English: The Mishnah teaches the required motions of tenufah for offerings that require waving: the object is held with both hands and moved back and forth, then raised and lowered, based on “that which was waved and that which was raised.”

On the daf / in context: See the cited source for the full section.

Type of Learning

Derash on the verse.

What Is Learned

The doubled wording “which was waved and which was raised” establishes the complete tenufah motion: back and forth, and up and down.
