Core Text — Yoma 6a

English: The Gemara asks how Aaron and his sons were dressed during the inauguration, not to establish what happened historically but to reconcile the wording of the command with the wording of the execution. Two traditions differ: Aaron was dressed before his sons, or Aaron and his sons were dressed together.

Type of Learning

Derash on the verse.

What Is Learned

The derashah resolves an apparent conflict between the command to dress Aaron and his sons and the narrative describing their actual dressing.
