Derasha 14 — Terumah 25:10

וְעָשׂ֥וּ אֲר֖וֹן עֲצֵ֣י שִׁטִּ֑ים אַמָּתַ֨יִם וָחֵ֜צִי אׇרְכּ֗וֹ וְאַמָּ֤ה וָחֵ֙צִי֙ רׇחְבּ֔וֹ וְאַמָּ֥ה וָחֵ֖צִי קֹמָתֽוֹ׃

אָמַר רַבִּי יוֹחָנָן: בְּאַמָּה בַּת שִׁשָּׁה טְפָחִים, מִכָּאן לָאָרוֹן שֶׁהָיָה אָרְכּוֹ חֲמֵשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה טְפָחִים, רָחְבּוֹ תִּשְׁעָה טְפָחִים וְגָבְהוֹ תִּשְׁעָה טְפָחִים.

English: Rabbi Yochanan says that the cubit here is six handbreadths; therefore the Ark was fifteen handbreadths long, nine handbreadths wide, and nine handbreadths high.

What Is Learned: The Yerushalmi calculates the Ark's dimensions using a six-handbreadth cubit.
