תני רבי ישמעאל: ויבא אהרן וכל זקני ישראל לאכל לחם עם חותן משה לפני האלהים. וכי לפני האלהים אכלו? אלא מכאן שהמקבל פני חבירו כאילו מקבל פני שכינה.
English: The Yerushalmi interprets “before God” as teaching that one who receives another person’s presence is regarded as receiving the Divine Presence.
